Hey, y’all! If you haven’t noticed, I have a thing for anything off the shoulder and/or ankara. However, this was not always the case when I was younger. Growing up, I did not like to wear anything that informed anyone that I am Liberian. It would be a big thing every time my mother suggested that I wear one of my beautifully made outfits (I completely regret that now). It was a combination of things that caused me to act this way: kids teasing me about my complexion, my Africaness (new word), and the fact that I didn’t like to draw too much attention to myself.
As I’ve gotten older and grown to become more comfortable in my skin, I no longer care what anyone has to say about what I wear or do (okay, maybe just a little).
What was one thing in your life that you struggled with and later overcame?
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Love the dress!!!
Thank you!!
